WFMW- Repurposing Envelopes

You know that  annoying  junk mail you get? The credit card offers and such? Well, I used to throw them right into recycling. But, I discovered a much better use for these. My girls love to color pictures and then pretend to mail them. I was forever giving them my good envelopes to put papers in. And we were going through envelopes way too quickly. So, I started saving all the envelopes that come in the junk mail for my girls to use for themselves.

Now, I get to keep and use my own, nice, envelopes and my girls can have a  ball and use as many of “their” envelopes as they want!

This is also a great idea for preschool teachers. If you’re a preschool teacher, ask parents to save these envelopes for your preschoolers to use in class!

As a side note, I also keep every piece of paper that has a blank side to it for them to color on. I feel like this saves money and is a good repurposing method for paper.

This is a great idea! I absolutely HATE wasting paper! I use both sides of our copy paper as much as I can and when I used to work outside the home, I would do the same thing and drive some of my coworkers crazy, I think! LOL!

I use them for coupons – one envelope per store. I hope you will come by my blog (I'm new at this) and say hello-I could sure use some blogger friends and subscribers!

Great idea! I like to give Garrett our junk mail. Then he thinks he got mail and enjoys opening it and he plays with the envelope, paper and whatever else is inside. I just make sure to get anything with our name or info on it, otherwise it's fair game. I'll have to tell him to draw on the blank sides too.
Of course Garrett is a paper hoarder so I can't encourage too much. He takes any and all pamphlets, instruction booklets, inserts in DVD cases, and holds on to them as if they are every bit as important as his toys and books. If I throw one away or Cooper tears one up, you would think something happened to Buzz Lightyear!

This is a really good idea! Brooklyn isn't at the age to write on things yet, but I can already start saving them (we get enough of them with all the bills we pay!). I would also like to use them for coupons if I can ever get into cutting them and keeping track of what I have! lol

Good idea! I use mine for shopping lists, tucking coupons for various stores inside.

My WFMW post today is about how I make my online time pay off in terms of happy snail mail.  :)

That's funny about Garrett! I like the idea of giving him junk mail and letting him think it's his.

Yes, the envelopes for coupons idea is great. Couponing is time consuming but once you have a good ritual down it's easier. Or so I hear! I don't have it quite down yet either but I'm working on it.
