I just discovered this fun meme through Heather and it’s from this fun blog- Oh Amanda.

Here’s my top ten for this gloomy Tuesday:

The Top Ten Most Annoying Children’s T.V Shows

This morning listening to my girls watch “Sid The Science Kid”, I thought, oh my goodness, Sid is sooooo annoying! I can’t stand his facial expressions and his mannerisms. I know, he’s just an animated character, but still. This is not to say I don’t think it’s a good show. This got me thinking that I find many of the children’s shows on t.v  annoying, which led me to this top ten list.  So, number one on my list today is. ….(These are randomly listed. Not in order of most annoying)

1. Sid The Science Kid

2. Jay Jay The Jet Plane ( Herky’s rolling ‘R’s”…. need I say more!) All the planes have annoying facial expressions too. This show is superrrrrrr annoying! I’d probably say this show is the most annoying!

3. Caillou- My girls LOVE Caillou. This show will not be leaving our house any time soon. But, watching  a bald little kid who gets to go first for everything, who’s ideas are always the best,  has an annoying voice and is whiny is not my idea of fun. I’ll settle for listening to him…in another room. Oh and I don’t get Rosie. Is she a toddler (like, two years old?) or is she older? One second she’s using baby language and the next she’s drawing perfect flowers and cutting them out. So, which is it? Or are the creators of the show not aware of developmental stages?

4. Fresh Beat Band- Ok, so the music is fun and it makes my girls dance like crazy all over the living room. I think the acting is terrible. But the show wasn’t created for me so I’ll give it a slightly annoying review.

5. Max and Ruby- It breaks my heart to put this show on  my list. I actually think this show is cute! But, Ruby’s bossiness starts getting on my nerves after a while. I joined the group ” Where The H***Are Max and Ruby’s Parents” on Facebook several months ago. Seriously, where the heck are they? Why is their grandmother, Mrs. Huffington and their Bunny Scout leader the only adults in their lives? Why is Ruby putting Max to bed all the time. And dressing him?

6. Dora- Another show I think has it’s good points but I find generally annoying. Boots’ shrieking monkey sound (that sounds nothing like a real monkey) makes me want to put my fist through the t.v every time I hear it. Oddly enough, I don’t find her cousin Diego annoying.

7. Barney- I don’t think I need to explain this one…

8. Blue’s Clues- Steve’s acting grated on my nerves and I was happy to see him go. My girls never really watched this show but I caught it enough flipping through the channels to make me never want to watch it again.

9. The Wiggles- Again, kids love them. Their songs stick in my head after a while and I find that annoying! Katelyn used to love this show around two years of age. But now she hates them. I actually need to get rid of my Wiggles DVD’s now. Madelyn has never watched them.

Anyone want to buy some “Wiggles” DVDs from me? Anyone?

10. Teletubbies- Just their names are annoying!! And those giggly sounds they make the whole time are enough to make you want to stick a fork in your eye. And what’s up with the creepy baby sun? Seriously? The whole show is creepy weird if you ask me.

I agree with about half of your list. Teletubbies, Blue’s Clue and Barney are not allowed on my tv. Dora (because of her voice) is also VERY annoying. But our kids love them so I guess we can sacrifice our sanity for them. :) I haven’t watched the Fresh Beat Band yet, but I have the feeling that it is annoying. But I have to disagree with Sid the Science Kid. I love that show!

All this gets me thinking about some of the shows our parents suffered through, like Saved By the Bell. Don’t think they hated watching that show?!?!

Caillou, Dora, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Kai-Lan drive me bonkers. It’s all the high-pitched voices and repetitive questions. But my daughter loves them!

This post made me laugh out loud!

You know what, tho’? I love Sid the Science Kid! He cracks me up…”I love my mom! Uh-huh! My mom is cool! Uh-huh!” (Did you know that Sid is one of those CGI characters like Tom Hanks in Polar Express? So, his expressions are a REAL person. Weird, huh?)

Thanks for linking up today! :)

I don’t think Sid The Science kid is a terrible show. It’s informative and fun but annoying.

Amanda, I did not realize that is was with CGI characters! So there is a real someone out there with those annoying facial expressions! lol

Vanessa, my daughter is terrified of Yo Gabba Gabba although she’s never really watched the show. The second it comes on she’ll scream ” Change the channel! No Yo Gabba Gabba!!” I don’t get it :o ) I love Ni Hao Kai-Lan. I think that show is so cute. My girls like it too. I’ll have to make a list next week of MY favorite kids shows- hehehe

Debra, I agree! I’m sure my parents got tired of “The LIttle Mermaid”, “Feivle”(sp??) and “Care Bears”. HAHA!

We love Caillou and Max & Ruby. Dora is okay. Barney…poor Barney. I think Barney was a victim of poor handlers (that made him the ubiquitous Barney) in the early/mid 90’s. I vowed never to watch him. When my son was born in 1999, we started watching Barney (2001, maybe?) and he’s really not that bad. My younger son likes him now.

We were also heartbroken when Steve went to college. My 10yo still gets teary-eyed about it. It just wasn’t the same without him.

Now Sid the Science Kid, CGI or not, is just weird!

I don’t know any of these shows since I only have a six month old. But, I’m not looking forward to any of them! Thanks for the heads up!

OH I’m so with you on Calliou!! It’s off our tv now – he’s so whiney!!! Funny list … thanks for making me laugh!

Caillou would top my list! My daughter loves that show but Caillou is so whiny. We actually cut her back on Caillou because she was start whine like him. I couldn’t handle too much of that.

Okay I have to add Little Einsteins to the list. The little blonde who makes up all the songs drives me crazy! I actually like Calliou because it is always a very calm show for my kids to watch but, when is that kid going to grow some hair!! I also have to say Max and Ruby are just weird. I always wondered too about their parents. My most hated show is sponge bob squarepants. My kids are NOT allowed to watch it ever. I watched it once just to see if it would be okay and no way!! I was horrified by that show.

I’m a grandmother, so I guess I can commnent too! I’ve sat and watched all the shows that you mentioned Melissa, and I don’t mind Calliou, Dora or Max and Ruby. I actually think they are cute shows. Brooklyn is starting to like watching some of these shows and she’s only 4 months old. She doesn’t sit there very long, but the movement and the music and the colors keep her entertained for about 30 minutes sometimes, lol. And of course, I remember when Katelyn and Madelyn watched all these shows when they were younger, especially Katelyn and I get homesick for those days:(

We’re still in that lovely stage where she’s too young for TV, but I’m dreading the moment we have to start watching some of those shows. Can someone please explain the relevance of Yo Gabba Gabba to me?

This is a cute idea! I’ll have to try it next time. I agree that most of those shows are quite annoying. I didn’t realize you were so annoyed by them though! LOL. I’ve never heard of the “Sid” show but all the others I have. I have to say that the ones that annoy me most from your list would be the wiggles, teletubbies and Barney.

I guess this is something I’ll have to deal with soon though once Brooklyn is older and watching them. She already watches Dora and Max and Ruby at mom and dad’s. I’m never home when they are on so I never watch them. I think Max and Ruby are cute – but good question, where ARE the parents???

Yeah!!! My kids are all teens and we are way past those incredibly annoying kid shows…however, now we’re stuck in a never ending loop of Phineas and Furb, iCarly, some weird teen cartoon that I have yet to catch the name of, and Spongebob. Gag me with a pitchfork for each and every one of these!
