Top Ten Shows I’m Watching This Summer

If you’re like me I’m guessing that your favorite Fall season shows have just had season finales (or series finales..Lost…..sigh). You’re sad but, hey, new seasons of Summer shows are starting. Yay! Since my Summers are usually a bit more relaxed and flexible I have more time to catch up on shows. Here’s a list of what I’m watching  this Summer and/or catching up a bit on this Summer. (er… hopefully)

1. Season 6 of Lost

I’ve watched 5 seasons plus 1 episode of season 6 since about March of this year. My hubby and I love this show but I don’t think we’ve gotten the full effect of loving this show since it started six years ago and having to wait for a new season to start each year. I’ve had to refrain from reading any recaps of season 6 or the grand series finale. I’m pretty sure I’m going to host a finale party of my own for anyone who wants to watch it again.

2. So You Think You Can Dance

I’ve been watching this show since season 2 (I believe). LOVE IT. I always get attached to a couple of dancers. It’s the only show in which I call in to vote.

3. Drop Dead Diva

Season 2 just started on Lifetime.  It’s a cute, chick flick type of show. I was able to watch the first 5 episodes of season 1 on Hulu before they pulled them. It’s very entertaining. And definitely a girly type show.

4. TrueBlood

What can I say? Season 3 starts next week.  It’s a guilty pleasure.  Twilight it’s not. Team Bill or Team Eric? *Because real Vampires don’t sparkle….

*Just ribbing on Twilight. I love Twilight too!

5. The Gates

I think it’s another vampire drama type show. Looks intriguing. It’s so new I couldn’t find a picture to post put in this post!

6. Season 6 of Grey’s Anatomy

No, I didn’t get to watch most of this past season! Hopefully it will show up online again

soon.

7. 24

I’ve been told we MUST watch that show. Thankfully, if we subscribe to Netflix, we’ll have many seasons to catch up on.

8. Lie To Me

We’ve watched a couple of episodes and really liked it.

9. Modern Family

Mike and I both think this show is really funny. Not sure where it is in the season or if it’s over yet.

10. What show do YOU think I should add to my list?

I LOVE Drop Dead Diva! I just caught up on the new episode last night.

P.S. I love Top Ten Tuesdays also!

I'm so bummed I didn't watch Drop Dead Diva when it first aired! Now I can't find the episodes anywhere, and I'm just not interested in starting in season 2 without knowing what's already happened. Grr!

What I will be watching this summer: SYTYCD, Burn Notice, Psych, My Boys, White Collar and Covert Affairs (a new show on USA).

We just caught the season premiere of a show called “Persons Unknown” last night. It comes on NBC at 10 (your time) on Mondays. It was really good. The premise is that 7 people were abducted and brought to this deserted town. They don't know who their abductors are or why they were taken. They all have something implanted in their thigh and if they get close to the edge of town someone remotely activates the implant and it knocks them out. They're watched via security cameras. It was interesting.
I've thought about trying to watch “The Gates” too. And I want to catch up on “Modern Family”. It came on during American Idol so I missed most of this season.
I can't wait until you watch the series finale of Lost. I want to see what you think. Opinions are all over the place with that show.

Lie to Me is awesome! I'm so glad it's back for the summer.

I don't know what season it's on but we enjoyed the few episodes we watched.

“Persons Unknown” sounds like a show we'd like. It sounds a lot like a Ted Dekker novel I read!
I'm excited for Lost too. I was going to post a cool picture of Lost that a fan made for season 6 but then I noticed they had a very not nice commentary on the finale. I guess they really didn't care for it!

It's super easy to get up to speed on that show! I watched only the first 5 episodes and after seeing the first one of season 2 I don't feel like I've missed out at all. I can't catch you up if you'd like

  • http://www.simplymelsblog.com/ Simply Mel

It's a fun, not very “deep” show!

  • http://lidandthekids.blogspot.com Lydia

I just read that it's only a 13 episode show for the summer, so it doesn't look like it will be recurring, so that's good (and bad, if it's something we really like.) It does have a “Ted Dekker-like” appearance.
I had my own issues with the Lost finale, but I'll wait till you've watched it before I share them. :)

Waylon and I have been watching “Lie to Me” and really like it. I would suggest you add “Bones” to your list if that's not a show you've been watching. For one, I think you will like it and secondly, the first 4 seasons are all on Netflix “watch instantly” which is an awesome plus. We are going to try out “Fringe” because we were told it's really good by Paul, Waylon's cousin.

I'm excited for you to watch 24. The first season to me is by far the best! Get ready to be at the edge of your seat the whole time b/c it's that intense! I think it's on Netflix watch instantly as well.

I also want to watch “The Gates” and “Modern Family”. They both look good. Now that Lydia mentioned Persons Unknown, I feel like I should try that out too. With so many shows to watch, it's so hard to keep up! I've become such a TV show junkie! I would rather watch them than a movie. Movies just haven't been “up to snuff” lately and would rather spend my time watching something I know I will like! Looks like you have a great lineup for the summer! Let me know what you think of 24! By the way, the most recent season of Grey's is AWESOME!! The season finale is probably one of the best I've seen in a long time and it feels like you're in a suspense movie. You will really like it. :)

24 is a good one to get into, we started watching on DVD and then had to suffer through waiting for the last 3 or 4 seasons. I think the episodes kind of flag in the middle, but they always leave you with a twist or cliffhanger, so you can stop watching if you're bored but when you really want to know what happens next, you can find out.

I thought Gates looked kind of interesting. Your comment about Twilight made me lol. Too funny!!!!

  • http://www.simplymelsblog.com/ Simply Mel

I'm really hoping we can sign up for Netfilix so we can just sit and watch these shows in the evenings and watch as many episodes as we want!

  • http://www.simplymelsblog.com/ Simply Mel

Haha. If you're referring to ” because real vampires don't sparkle” I wish I could take credit for that. It's a trending topic on Twitter that the HBO people who tweet for TrueBlood started. I've always thought that was funny!

I keep hearing about the Grey's season finale! I was so mad they pulled all the episodes off the web.

It is, but not really what I'd call shallow either. It's a fairly well done show for the budget and all that. Tell me which dude you like for her. I'm in Tony's camp right now and can't stand the old boyfriend from her old life actually.
