Very funny Melissa! I do understand and agree with your pet peeves. Very annoying! I don’t know anything about texting and the lingo that goes with it, so I would be totally lost on that! I’m like Laurie, it took me awhile to know what OMG and LOL was!

I love reading your pet peeves!! I love that someone else gets annoyed at things. I have to agree on the texting lingo. Half the time if someone writes to me this way I have no idea what they are saying. OMG took me forever to figure out. Okay, they could be total blonde moments too. LOL!! (yeah took me a while to figure out that one too). :0)

I CAN’T STAND the texting lingo…It drives me batty! What really gets to me is that my students use this so much they have forgotten how to spell things the real way and think that their text lingo is the right way. I also get “IDK” all the time as answers on tests when they don’t know the answer. Actually, I get: LOL! IDK!! OMG, Im gna fail! —I want to give them another test and tell them to redo it without all the crap on it. ugh.

The one-upping also is a huge pet peeve of mine. It’s like you don’t even want to start your story around that person because you know that as soon as you do, they will rush in with their story. I think Dane Cook did a bit about this and how you can never tell a “two wisdom teeth” story because someone who got all four pulled at the same time will always jump in and ruin your two wisdom teeth story. haha. it’s really funny.

One of my pet peeves lately is having to repeat everything I say in class. This is just part of being a teacher but I’m REALLY getting annoyed by it lately. It’s like my students are listening even less than normal and I’m having to repeat directions 5 or 6 times. GRRRR!!!!!

YES, yes and yes! I am with you an ALL those things. I think the grammar/spelling/txtn thing is one of my worst. Of course, it’s kind of hard to have people one up you when you HAVE 6 KIDS. Right? Just kidding. I really and truly hope I don’t come across that way. I won’t be offended if you tell me I do.
(I am curious to know if over-sympathizing can be the same thing. Like “Oh, I know what you mean, when I…..” Care to do a follow-up post on that?)

I’m w/ u on #3. Seriously. I hate it when people use texting lingo in anything other than a text or a tweet. Makes them look like 12 year old girls.

Were we separated at birth? Those are some of my biggest pet peeves too!!
