Losing It Week 3

I was a little disappointed to see that I only lost half a pound this week. However, I know I’ve been eating less and I know I’ve been exercising so I know I must be building up some muscle! Right?? This puts me at 6.5 lbs. I have to admit I didn’t log in my food and calories as well as I should have this past week. Maybe that contributed to my half pound weight loss? One thing that frustrates me is I’ve been eating and creating several new lunches and meals for myself and I honestly don’t know how many calories are in these creations. Sure, I know I could take each individual item and try to calculate the total calories from there but that is waaay too much trouble!! One thing I do try to do is find something comparable in the data base and just use those calories. I’m actually more afraid of the comparable item being more calories than what I actually made than the other way around! I need those extra calories!

I added 5 minutes to my elliptical time yesterday. That puts me at 30 minutes. And, boy, did those extra five minutes make a huge difference!   I also started cycling ( is that the term on the elliptical?) backwards every few minutes on the elliptical and that really works my glutes and thighs. They are so shaky when I’m done! I was really proud of myself on Wednesday because the day was going and with everything going on I was going to pass on exercising that day. Then I made myself  get on even if it wasn’t going to be for very long. I think I was able to get on for about 18 minutes. That was better than nothing!

So, in summary:

::Pounds lost this past week: .5 (6.5 total)

::Exercise: 4/7 (counting when I get on the elliptical later today).

Exercise has definitely become more of a daily part of my life than it was before. It’s not as hard to get the motivation to do it. But it’s by far not my favorite thing! I do notice   that I   have more energy and feel better when I exercise consistently.

::Eating habits: I don’t crave junk food as much anymore. Forcing myself to eat more fruits and veggies has been good for me. It’s helped me want to eat that stuff more. We’re all eating healthier now that we don’t have hardly any junk food in the house and the only snacking options are healthy ones.

I use the “analyze recipe” tool on nutritiondata.com. It’s pretty easy to type in the ingredients and how many servings and it will give you detailed data for any recipe!

Congrats on half a pound. GOING DOWN IS GOOD!

Melissa, you’re doing good! 1/2 lb. here and there adds up over a period of time. The point is that you’re changing the way you look at food and you’re eating less and exercising! I think you’re doing great:)
