Losing It Week 15

I was so excited to weigh this morning because I have exercised THREE times this week. I also controlled my eating pretty well, although I could have done better. I didn’t update last week because you-know-what was here and was adding several pounds to my weight.  Well, the residual effects are still here from you-know-what since I weighed in FOUR pounds heavier that my last weight. It was quite discouraging to see that number but I feel confident I can lose those four pounds.

It’s been so hard to get back into the good groove I was in before. I’ve had to just set my mind and DO IT. I try not to over think the exercise thing. I grab my sneakers and water and set the elliptical for 30 minutes. I tell myself it’s just thirty minutes and that there’s nothing that can’t wait for thirty minutes while I exercise. The phone, the house, the kids, even potty training! And even though some days I get on kicking and screaming I feel SO GOOD afterward!

I definitely think I can stand to cut back even more with my eating. I don’t have any desserts in the house right now but I’m pretty sure my portions with everything else have been larger than they need to be.

What really got to me motivated me the other day was that while I was exercising I was watching VH1’s “40 Most Slimmed Down Celebrities”. The commentators would talk about how so and so had really let themselves go once they became a mom. Marie Osmond was one of them. {Insert sarcasm} Oh my GOODNESS…she got to 165 lb!!!  She lost all that weight and went from a size 12 (yes TWELVE) to a size 2.

Yay for her. Geez.

It’s great that she lost weight and feels good about herself. But a size 12 wasn’t that huge to begin with! I could see it if she was an 18 and went to an 8. But getting to a size 2 is unrealistic for most women, in my opinion.

The other actress was Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady) and she is 5′3 (two inches taller than me) and she got to the gross, disgusting weight of 156 pounds.

Wow.

I can’t wait to be 156 pounds again. I don’t want to stay there ,either, but that would be great progress for me.

By Hollywood standards I’m pretty disgusting.

But, what does Hollywood know, right??

Oh! To be 156 pounds! It's a dream!

I am so with you on the grumbles on this one. It's totally unrealistic. Who wants to be that thin? Not me! My hubby likes my curves. He's actually slightly lamenting the decrease of my butt size. Not as much to hold he says. Love him.

Just keep swimming girl. Your body has to decide if you're serious about this exercise thing. Then, it will start dropping. I think women's bodies panic when we first start to exercise. They want to make sure we're not going to take too much of our uterus protection away or something. My two cents.

I'm SO PROUD of you for getting on the elliptical. Way to go girl!

Pshhhh! That's what I say to Marie and Marcia. Now that lady from Wilson Phillips? If only she would lose weight without surgery, she might be an actual inspiration!

Ohhhh Mel, you still make me laugh!

Congratulations on getting on the elliptical and setting the timer. I'm still walking on tready for 25 minutes/day and always tell myself (sometimes silently..sometimes out loud) that I am sooooo worth 25 minutes a day!

Happy 4th of July to you and your family!

Thanks!! I think my body must be protecting my uterus so much it's not letting it get pregnant! lol
My sweet hubby says he loves my curves too. I'd like to smooth them out a little better so their not as bumpy, though :o )

I know! I find the singer Jennifer Hudson inspirational. She lost a lot of weight just by disciplining herself. ( I think she did WW or Jenny too. Not sure) Also Candace Cameron (Burr??). She lost something like 25-30 lbs BY HERSELF! Gasp! No trainer, nutritionist and no Jenny Craig. Just closing her mouth and exercising. It's nice to see celebrities doing it the normal, non celebrity way ;o)

Ugh Hollywood! And double Ugh … to “that” time of the month!! Don't get discouraged … you're doing great!

Melissa, forget about Hollywood and just keep doing what you're doing! Remember that they have tons of money for personal trainers AND they're very motivated by the fact that they are on camera all the time.

I too would love to be 156 pounds. Sheesh…that's actually my goal weight right now. If I got down to that, I probably wouldn't be trying to lose anymore weight! I would be comfortable and at a decent weight for my height and build.

    Sigh…

I might join in on this Losing It challenge. Is it too late to join?
