Guess Who’s One Month Old?

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Well, she’s actually a month and a half , now, since I’m so behind on my blogging but we’re not splitting hairs here.  Her eyes look so dark in these pictures but they’re actually blue! I now have three blue eyed girls. And neither Mike nor I have blue eyes!

At her one month check up she was 11lbs 1 oz ( birth weight was 8 lbs 14 oz) and she was 23 and 1/4 inches long ( She grew 2 and 1/4 inches since birth!)

She turned one month the day before Easter. We got some awesome pictures of the three girls together Easter morning. We also took the time to take some “one month” pictures as well. The girls looked adorable in their Easter finery. My mother in law bought Katelyn and Madelyn these dresses several months ago and I thought they’d be perfect for Easter.  I went to Target for Jocy’s outfit and tried to find something that would blend in with what Katelyn and Madelyn were wearing.

I think I did pretty good!

(So, I guess this blog post is turning into an One Month/Easter pictures post, huh…?)

Yay for being one month!!

Here’s some pictures from Easter morning…

This one is going to be my new header. I love it!

Pretty stinkin’ cute, right??

My mind is just brimming with blog posts and my online photo album is over flowing with cute pictures to post. I just need to find time to blog more often!

I’m updating my blog and “freshening” it up a bit so be on the lookout for some new changes.

Blessings!!

Easter #2

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Or alternatively titled ” My kids were spoiled rotten on Easter and I did my best to keep it Christ centered but don’t know if they were paying attention”

So, I caved. I did end up buying a few things for the girls’ Easter baskets. I reused the candy and eggs they had gotten from the church egg hunt they went to. Then I grabbed a couple of Easter things from the attic. Then I spent $12 a piece on the girls at Wal-Mart. I didn’t think that was too bad but it was more than I had told myself I was going to do for them this year. In my defense, I took Easter eggs and filled them with things (mostly jelly beans) of the colors from ” My Easter Basket” where they symbolize different parts of Palm Sunday and the Resurrection story. As the girls opened stuff in their basket we went through the colors and what they meant.  I’ve never seen them so happy over a basket with $12 worth of stuff before! Mike even mentioned that we should do that for Christmas! Haha

So, Saturday we went to my inlaws’ church for their annual Easter egg hunt. Katelyn was super happy that her little friend, Isabel, from school got to come too.

Madelyn was in a terrible mood when we go there. I swear she hasn’t been getting enough sleep as of late. She’s been super whiny and crying about everything, which is not like her.

She spent most of her time in Nana’s lap and then doing this :

She did not want to hunt for eggs. She just wanted to be carried around. I finally sat her against the wall and told her she had to stay there until she was done crying. That actually helped! She got happy real quick. By then I had done all her work of finding the Easter eggs.

That evening I let them open their baskets from us.

These are the cards I made them:

And their Easter baskets. The book next to them is the one that explains the colors of Easter and what they mean.

Between the egg hunt at school, the egg hunt at the church, the two baskets each and the egg hunt at Nana and Papa’s fill with money…..

Do you think they were sufficiently spoiled?

Oh, I added the rest of the pictures of them painting eggs to my Flickr album if you want to check those out. (Mom :o ) )

Also, please remember I’ve been replying to comments in the comment section!

Easter Recap #1

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Easter was beautiful this year! It’s the first times years that Easter has been sunny and nice. It was in the mid 70’s yesterday. Gorgeous.

I must say our morning started out in a bit of a panic. Katelyn woke us up at 6:30 am to tell us that Madelyn was not in her bed. I mumbled that she was probably sleeping on the floor. Katelyn replied that she wasn’t. So I jumped out of bed and started looking around upstairs for her.

Madelyn was not upstairs with us. I started yelling her name and running downstairs.

We found her sleeping soundly on the couch. We don’t know what she did downstairs. I tried to wake her up but she rolled over and mumbled that she was tired. So I covered her up and let her sleep on the couch until she was ready to wake up.

The excitedly got dressed in their Easter finest and looked adorable.

We had great services at church. Our choir sounded great. Mike and I went forward to become members of our new church.

After church we went to nana and papa’s house to have Easter lunch, open baskets and have our own little egg hunt.

Then we sat around and visited outside and watched the girls dance and play with some of their toys.

Daddy and Papa even tried their hand at paddle ball.

It was a great day and we felt very blessed to be with family and to know Jesus as our Savior!

Happy Easter From Our Family To Yours

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

I was feeling guilty this past week because we weren’t going to be giving the girls a lot of Easter “stuff” this year. Our budget won’t allow it. Mike kept reminding me that Easter isn’t about them it’s about Jesus. Although I know that I was still feeling this huge wave of guilt that my girls weren’t going to be getting big Easter baskets from us.

Then I got to thinking of different, inexpensive things I could do to make this Easter memorable and more family and Christ centered and not so much about getting “stuff”.  I honestly can’t believe how Easter is being marketed now. It’ s like Christmas time in the Spring! The focus is being shifted away from the risen Savior and more on the Easter bunny and toys, toys toys!

I’m going to make the girls some small baskets with one chocolate bunny, some “recycled” stuff around the house and an Easter card I’m going to make for them.(They love getting cards and mail). They got to paint eggs here at home, make “Easter” chocolate chip cookies (I let them shape the dough into spring shapes) and they get to egg hunt at my inlaws’ church like they do every year. To top it off, they are going to get a nice Easter basket from Nana and Papa and have a little egg hunt at their house too. I think that’s plenty of Easter fun for two little girls!

Here are some pictures of them painting their eggs….

The end result

Eating  Easter cookies before bed and reading Easter stories

We read a really cute little book called “My Easter Basket” and it explains the colors in an Easter basket and what each color means in the story of the Resurrection. I want to base their Easter baskets on this cute little book to really drive the true meaning of Easter home into their little hearts.

What are your Easter traditions? Do you give your kids big Easter baskets? How about the Easter Bunny?

Happy Easter! The Lord is risen!

Hallelujah!
