September 11th, 2001. A day no one in America will ever forget. As we come upon the 10th anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday I had to take the time to pause and reflect. I was trying to find a good poem or song that would be a good reflection of how I feel about the events of 9/11. This beautiful song by Steven Curtis Chapman came to mind. Take the time to read the lyrics and listen to the song. I hope the words bless your heart and give you hope like they have mine.
If you get the chance join this Facebook “moment of silence” event my friend created in honor of 9/11. We can all afford to sacrifice a day of “silence” on Facebook.

Beauty Will Rise
By Steven Curtis Chapman

It was the day the world went wrong
I screamed til my voice was gone
And watched through the tears as everything
Came crashing down
Slowly panic turns to pain
As we awake to what remains
And sift through the ashes that are left behind

But buried deep beneath
All our broken dreams
We have this hope:

Out of these ashes… beauty will rise
And we will dance among the ruins
We will see Him with our own eyes
Out of these ashes… beauty will rise
For we know, joy is coming in the morning…
In the morning, beauty will rise

So take another breath for now,
And let the tears come washing down,
And if you can’t believe I will believe for you.

Cuz I have seen
The signs of spring!
Just watch and see:

Out of these ashes… beauty will rise
And we will dance among the ruins
We will see Him with our own eyes
Out of these ashes… beauty will rise
For we know, joy is coming in the morning…
In the morning…

I can hear it in the distance
And it’s not too far away.

It’s the music and the laughter
Of a wedding and a feast.
I can almost feel the hand of God
Reaching for my face
To wipe the tears away, and say,
“It’s time to make everything new.”

“Make it all new”

This is our hope.
This is the promise.
This is our hope.
This is the promise.
That it would take our breath away
To see the beauty that’s been made
Out of the ashes…
Out of the ashes…
That it would take our breath away
To see the beauty that’s been made
Out of the ashes…
Out of the ashes…

Out of these ashes… beauty will rise
And we will dance among the ruins
We will see Him with our own eyes
Out of this darkness… new life will shine
And we’ll know the joy is coming in the morning…
In the morning…beauty will rise!

Oh, Beauty will rise
Oh, Beauty will rise
Oh, oh, oh, Beauty will rise
Oh, oh, oh, Beauty will rise
Oh, oh, oh, Beauty will rise

I am so glad we have a God who is in control and loves us beyond what we can imagine; who can give us hope!

Psalm 37:34
Put your hope in the Lord.Travel steadily along his path.He will honor you by giving you the land. You will see the wicked destroyed.

Psalm 78:7
So each generation should set its hope anew on God,not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

This Sunday let us pause and reflect.Remember those who died on that tragic day and the loved ones they left behind. Let’s thank God for his mercies and pray for his hand on our country’s safety and leaders.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET!!!

I was newly married a month, eating cereal in our hotel room in Rhode Island. I don’t usually watch the news but I was flipping through the channels when all the same coverage was coming up. I was thinking “What’s going on?” I watched as a news reporter was talking about how a plane hit one of the twin towers and then the news station flashed to footage of the the first plane. And as the reporter continued to report I saw another plane flying in the background towards the second tower and thought ” Oh my gosh! What is happening? That plane is awful close!” and then it hit the second tower, shocking the reporter and making them run for cover. I remember gasping in horror and thinking ” WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING?? IS THIS FOR REAL?!” And so began my day on September 11,2001. I still can’t watch the memorial video we bought of that day. I watched it once and the footage was so horrible and tragic that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to watch it again. So, today I’m thinking of the families who lost loved ones that day. I’m thinking of the heroes who gave their lives to save others. And I’m thanking God that it wasn’t me. I’m praying that God will protect our country and keep us safe. That we’ll always be the land of the free even when our government seems to want to take that away from us. I’m still proud to be an American no matter what certain First Ladies say.

WE should never forget

God bless America
