Hello! And welcome to my little corner of the world. Thanks for stopping by! Let me introduce myself: My name is Melissa, but you can call me Mel.
I am a wife and stay at home mommy to two beautiful girls, Katelyn, 4, and Madelyn, 2 . I want to have four children in all, Lord willing. We’ve been trying to conceive baby #3 for a bit now and pray the Lord blesses us with another child if it’s His will. You’ll see little bits and pieces about this struggle of mine throughout my blog. I am 31 years old and have been married to my wonderful husband,Mike, for 8 years. I’m 5′1 and a 1/2. Mike is 6′7.
I love being a mom. I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with my girls. I’m astounded every day that Mike and I could have produced such amazing little people. And they’re cute to boot! They definitely got the best of each of us. I love coffee. Extra cream with three Stevia. I’m fascinated by natural and healthy living and am really trying to lead my family down that path. It’s been tiny baby steps in that area and I do blog about my progress. I’m also trying to “green” our life a little and be a little more eco -conscious.I’m a recycling fanatic. I recycle anything and everything I can. I think everyone should recycle. I love Freecycle.com. I cloth diaper. Not every single day but as the clothing Madelyn is wearing allows. I love to read and watch my favorite shows on t.v.-”Lost”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Castle”, “Heroes” and “So You Think You Can Dance” to name a few. I’m trying to live more simply. Less cluttered. I enjoy gardening, manicures, pedicures, and reading while snuggled in bed. I loathe cleaning my tub, my oven or my fridge. I like girly things- pink and purple,jewelry, shopping, shoes and purses.
I was raised in Brazil for 15 years as a Missionary’s Kid. Not only was I a Missionary Kid but I was also a Pastor’s Kid! I speak fluent Portuguese. I wish I were doing a better job of teaching it to my children ,but I’m not. I have been a Christian since I was 7 years old and love my Lord with all my heart. My husband and I are doing our best to raise our children knowing the Lord and His love for them. We are very active in our new church. We are seeking the Lord’s will as to how we can minister in the new church we’ve been attending. We both have a passion for church ministry and are always on the lookout for areas that we can serve in. I started this blog mainly to keep in touch with my family and so my parents and siblings could see pictures of my kids. I live in New England and admit I am not fond of living here and miss my family (who live in Texas) like crazy. This blog has evovled into more than just an online photo album for my family. It has become a creative outlet for me to express and share some of my personal journeys and struggles. I still use it to post news and photos of my kids and daily life but I also want to share my struggle with contentment with where God wants me right now and my quest for a more healthy, natural, green and simple lifestyle. Mike and I married on August 4th, 2001. What a blessing he has been to my life! Mike works in management in the Biotech industry and is great at what he does. He’s a wonderful, godly husband and great dad. He has a passion for teaching and that is definitely a ministry God has called him to. His job has him working crazy hours but he still makes time for his family. He loves old cars(especially “Cudas) hunting, fishing, playing volleyball, Texas Hold ‘Em, cooking out, and playing “Call Of Duty” on his PS3.
Katelyn is our spirited, funny, bright,inquisitive, non stop talking, affectionate, independent, bossy, dessert loving, veggie hating,people loving, attention hogging,energetic, little sleep needing, 4 year old first born. She loves to play dress up and is always looking for “her prince”, her baby doll “Brooklyn”,real baking and pretend baking ,any kind of puzzle or building toy, Barbies, Polly Pockets, Strawberry Shortcake, coloring, painting, playing in dirt and sand, swimming, singing, reading books,watching her favorite t.v shows and playing outside. She also loves going to her Pre-K class, Sunday school, dance class and Awana Cubbies.
Madelyn is our goofy, laid back, good sleeping, smart, sweet, defiant, also independent, carb loving, veggie hating, older sister loving, gabbing, cuddly,silly and somewhat shy, 2 year old. She loves to follow Katelyn around but also likes down time to herself. She’s definitely a “mama’s girl”. She loves to cuddle, play in dirt and sand, baby dolls, Barbies, Polly Pockets, balls, Strawberry Shortcake,running around outside, swinging, having her back rubbed, read books, do toddler puzzles, and in general get into mischief and stuff she’s not supposed to.
